Single cultivation versus sweet potato and popcorn intercropping: benefits over edaphic fauna in ecological-based system

The objective of this study was to evaluate the diversity and abundance edaphic fauna organisms in single intercropped systems sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas) ecologically-based popcorn (Zea mays) Red Oxisol, Northwest region state Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Four cultivars were used with popcorn: BRS Amélia, Rubissol, Cuia Crioula. soil assessment carried out using PROVID-type traps. Richness, dominance indices Shannon (H’) Simpson (D) determined. orders Coleoptera, Hymenoptera, Collembola Orthoptera, dominant both cultivation systems. showed a greater number Isopoda Collembola, whereas system, Lepidoptera Hymenoptera stood out. intercropping shows highest compared cultivation.
